Aknoon Gallery, Isfahan, Iran
During her stay at Va Residency, Pantea Lachin will explore and collect the potential of noise and sound in Isfahan – on the other hand she wants to get closer to the local trade via observation and practice.
Pantea Lachin is an Iranian artist who lives and works in Berlin. Her work and experimental approach can be characterized by its focus on perception – exploring the potential of communication methods through moving images and sound. Her concept also centred round enabling perceptual shifts through ‘dissonant’ approaches. Her background often forms the starting point for her work. She emigrated as a 10-year-old to Germany and grew up thus in two very different worlds.
In 2017 she received an artist’s grant (Künstlerinnenprogramm) from the Berlin Senate Department for Culture. Since 2016 she is a lecturer and workshop leader on aesthetic-cultural education. In 2015 she founded Outside Pluto an independent art- and project space in Berlin for national and international artists. Between 2012 and 2014 she was a doctoral candidate at Oxford Brookes University, researching the subject of Social Sculpture (Beuys), which she voluntarily decided to give up. From 2007 to 2012, she has taught kinetic typography at universities in Germany and Iran. Lachin studied interior design and visual communication in Hanover and London.
She received funds and scholarships by Goethe Institute Tehran, ifa – Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations, DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service, Losito. Kressmann-Zschach Foundation, Ionion Center for Arts ans Cultures Kefalonia, Senate Department for Culture Berlin.
