Nicoletta Torcelli, born in Italy, has a PhD in art history and is an employee by the cultural channel Arte. She also works as freelance curator, author and university lecturer. She has a strong interest in Iranian art and culture; in addition to numerous exhibitions and projects in other areas, she initiated and curated 2006/2007 in The Museum für Neue Kunst Freiburg the large exhibition iran.com – Iranian art today. 2011 she moderate a discussion at the Cologne Conference Between the Lines. Being Iranian 1979-1390. In 2013 she curated in the E-WERK Freiburg the exhibition Wrong Illusions. 5 Iranian positions. In 2015 she was the project manager of Unfailing Memory. Contemporary video art from Iran, a cooperation project that took place in various cultural places in Freiburg (curated by Samira Hashemi). Her current curatorial project in 2017 is Possible Worlds. Contemporary Iranian Art in the Kunstraum Potsdam. In October 2017, she will participate to a panel discussion in the Kunsthalle Tübingen within the framework of a Shirin Neshat exhibition. In addition, she is the author of radio documentaries about Parastou Forouhar and Forough Farrokhzad. Nicoletta Torcelli lives and works in Freiburg and Strasbourg, Germany / France.
