Va Artist-in-Residence
Short-Term Residency to Prepare for the Workshop
“Reading Rather: Let’s Talk about Artworks” at CC Lab* (Isfahan, Iran), October 25, 26, 28, 29, 2016
* While the Residency was Managed by Va Space, the Workshop was Organized by CC Isfahan

Workshop Description
This workshop includes some group critique sessions to review artworks, on how to READ an artwork. Together, we want to experience how we can speak about the artworks we encounter, how to study them from different angles and how to articulate our thoughts, interpretations and opinions.  Furthermore, how we can talk about our own art, how we have processed our ideas, what we have aimed to present and whetherwe have been successful in this matter. We will have group conversations and would help each other to construct a productive critique. Part of the workshop is allocated to review and critique a number of contemporary artists of Shahrzad’s choice, part of it is devoted to review participants’ works and we will spend a session on the show of Mahmoud Bakhshi, “Night, Blackness and Other Stories” which was exhibited at CC Isfahan (Isfahan, Iran), from October 28 to November 29, 2016. Participants are preferred to have accomplished projects or works in the progress to present for group conversations. These works or projects in different mediums such as sculpture, installation, video, painting or photo are preferably brought to the workshop location. If not possible, we will review the images of the work.**
